How to Update TDO Software (Version 11)

If you are looking to update TDO Software for your office or for a client’s office, please follow the steps below. Upgrading TDO Software is a fairly simple process, but please make sure that you allocate enough time as once the installation process is started, TDO can not be opened.

The process of updating TDO falls under your IT’s responsibility, so please make sure that they call TDO Tech Support at (858)558-3696 if they have any questions prior to updating.

Before You Begin

Step 1 - Login to TDO4Endo.com

Prior to updating, please log in to www.tdo4endo.com to see if there are any steps that are specific to the version you are installing. It is not common to have instructions specific to a particular build, but they will be posted on our website if there is anything of particular interest to pay attention to.

Step 1 - Download the files and perform routine server maintenance

After logging in to www.tdo4endo.com  find the most recent version in the Download area. The name will be:

TDOProfessional113xx.exe (the file name will vary depending on the current revision)

Additional files that may be necessary to update include SetupDrugs.exe and SetupCanada.exe (if your office is in Canada). Always check to see if the file sizes vary at all between the version located in your TDO Builds directory. If you have any questions about this, please contact TDO Technical Support.

Step 2 - Backup TDO Server Data

After everyone has exited TDO, please make sure to utilize the TDO backup utility and run a backup of the server data only. After it completes, make sure to view the log to see that it has completed without errors. This is a necessary step in the event that the update fails and they need to revert back to the previous version.

TDO Server Install

Verify that everyone has completed exited TDO and the program has been completed closed out on all computers.

Double click the installer for the new version located in your TDO Builds folder.

From the TDO Builds folder, run the TDO Professional installer

When it gets to installation type, choose Server

Ensure that you point the Server Directory to the TDOfficeData folder you previously created

When you have ensured that you are pointing to the proper directory, click Next

Click Next and it should show that you are ready to install TDO. Click Next and TDO will begin installing as a Server. Follow all prompts that appear on screen.

The installation will notify you when it completes.

After this has completed, re run the TDO installer this time as a workstation to allow TDO to be opened on the server.

TDO Workstation Installaion

After the server update has finished, and you are looking to install TDO on the workstation.

Make sure that the workstation is set up using TDO Best Practices guide.

From the mapped TDO Builds folder, run the TDOProfessional11.3xx.exe installer and select workstation as the Installation type.

Ensure that the Destination directory is pointing to either:

C:\Program Files\TDOffice or C:\Program Files (x86)\TDOffice

Do not install TDO pointing to the root of the C Drive or any other location

For the Server Directory, using the drop down box choose the network drive mapped earlier and make sure it is pointing to the TDOfficeData directory

And once you have selected it. Click OK

Click Next and it will show you that TDO is Ready to Install

At various points throughout the installation it may prompt you to run different files, click yes to Agree

After installation has completed, call TDO to unlock each workstation for use.

If you are unable to find the server directory previously mapped, Disable User Account Controls and reboot the computer. Rerun the installer.

If you receive a message that there is no database file found in that directory, verify that the Patients.mdf on Server has the proper permissions and Everyone has a full read/write access.

If you receive a message that TDO.mdw could not be opened

Reboot the computer and rerun the installer
