TDO is designed to walk the user through a series of steps that rationalize the diagnostic process.

Detailed Instructions

These steps are as follows:

  • Review medical history.
  • Acquire the necessary and appropriately angled preoperative radiographs of diagnostic quality.
  • Listen to the patient’s history and description of their symptoms, if any.
  • Document his or her chief complaint and perform a series of diagnostic tests designed to confirm or elucidate the signs and symptoms that are present or that have been related to you by the patient.
  • Record the results of the tests and reach a tentative pulpal and periapical diagnosis.
  • Present a treatment plan as well as discuss any alternative treatments available. Discuss in detail the procedure proposed with drawings, examples, and other educational materials using the case presentation page.
  • Quote the fee and number of anticipated visits including follow up care.
  • Answer any questions the patient has and obtain an informed consent.
  • Schedule for treatment or begin treatment if appropriate.
