Creating FTP server on your TDO Server
Estimated Reading Time: 1 MinutesTo configure your FTP server you must first have the IIS installed in your server.
The FTP server on IIS does not allow you to have a specific list of users that will have access to the folder. It is integrated with Windows authentication. For this reason, your Administrator users CANNOT leave the password blank. These settings will allow your Administrator group to have access to the FTP server. We strongly recommend you assign difficult passwords for your Administrator users with letters, numbers and special characters and change these passwords frequently.
First create a new account (e.g.: TDOftp) in your domains or local server with a strong password and then grant access to this account to your TDOfficedata directory.
Go to the IIS management and on the default FTP server you MUST remove the option “allow anonymous connection” on FTP server.
Create a virtual FTP folder with read and write privileges to your TDOfficedata folder in your server. Enter the alias you want (e.g.: DrCarr). You must also enter this alias in TDO –> Administrative -> Edit Control Table –> Network Settings –> FTP User and password.
Make sure FTP port 21 is not open in your firewall for inbound connections. The VPN between offices should have all services available to provide FTP services between them without the need of opening any port.
Now you should be able to use your FTP server. Contact TDO’s technical support, so we can test the setup and enter this FTP account inside of TDO. You can try doing it by clicking on the menu Administrative -> Edit Control Table –> Network Settings –> FTP User and password.
